AECOM is currently seeking to hire Senior Architect to be based at Riyadh. The Senior Architect will report directly to the King Khaled International Airport Expansion and Development project’s Engineering Manager and the Project Director from AECOM. The primary task will be to ensure the compatibility and suitability of architectural details (interior and exterior) received from the Main Contractor as “Shop Drawings” to complete the refurbishment of passenger Terminals T3 and T4.
The Senior Architect will assist in ensuring Client Requirements are achieved while working with the Contractors design staff and vendors in translating the Specification and 100% Design into functional installations through the approval of shop drawings, material submissions and mock ups.
The post also requires the Senior Architect to utilize independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of Contractor’s design submissions and installation techniques as well as offering alternative approaches to problems where appropriate.
The Senior Architect will comment on associated services drawings (MEP / IT / Security) which may affect the overall architectural and interior layouts together with confirming compliance with applicable codes, accepted architecture and engineering practices.
Experience working on International Airport Terminal Projects is a clear advantage, however, experience on public facilities (Metros / train stations) will be considered.
Review contractor prepared architectural design / shop drawings, documents and specifications, analysis calculations and details for compliance with contract documents.
Perform checks on architectural design details to confirm compliance with governing codes and standards.
Research design options and document findings for the Engineering Manager.
Assume the lead role in the coordination / review of shop drawings specifically directing the attention of the mechanical and electrical system review engineers attention to coordination requirements and ensuring a consolidated listing of response comments is provided to the main contractor.
May serve as the deputy Engineering Manager in the incumbents absence.
May direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities.
Coordinate on site activities with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, civil etc. to ensure mock up installations are undertaken and receive client sign off.
Use computer-assisted architecture and design software and equipment to prepare architectural design documents should this be required.
Attend and participate in meetings with Contractor, Stakeholders and the Client as appropriate.
Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area.
Organize, draft, and coordinate technical responses to Contractors submissions.
Be capable and experienced in managing submittal responses in a fast paced environment and ensure expedient responses to Contractor’s submittals. Schedule the review activities for the AECOM team to ensure no delays accrue.
Demonstrate a culture of mutual respect and trust and enthusiasm within the AECOM team and extend a cooperative approach to the Contractor in resolving site installation issues.
Follow established site processes and practices in relation to the execution of the Shop drawing and material submittal reviews.

Specific Skills Required:
QA/QC of architectural finishes works
Familiar with Codes and Standards governing construction projects in the KSA
Knowledge of installation of interior finishes, procedures and techniques
Experience supervising and directing construction on site
Computer skills to aid reporting.

- The position is for the KKIA Terminals Upgrade Works including the refurbishment of terminal halls and architectural finishes
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Architectural detailing / design drawing review
Preferably 5 years experience on projects in GCC preferably KSA and preferably with airport / metro background.
Experienced in QA/QC of site installations for architectural works and interior finishes.
- BSc in Architectural Engineering / BA in Architecture.
