AECOM Lead - Systems Integration in NEOM, Saudi Arabia
1. Purpose of the Job
This role supports the Engineering Manager in the management of the Railway Systems elements of the Backbone designs undertaken by BEC and subsequent contractor design and delivery. This role provides technical oversight of activities relating to rail Systems Integration. The Systems Integration reports to the Engineering Manager.
The System Integration Lead will:
manage the phasing, migration, integration, and acceptance of the end state railway, for the relevant fleets and their handover to operations;
lead the integration of NEOM as a 'system';
create and manage the Interface Register;
review the progress of Interface development to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution and provide support to contractors as necessary; and
have the final say and approval for the 'system'.
2. Principal Accountabilities
Leadership of the Systems Integration function.
Providing visible leadership and demonstrable commitment to Systems Integration principles demonstrating by the processes put in place;
Establish and develop Systems Integration processes and monitor performance against objectives.
Act to consolidate the business needs and integration requirements, ensuring risks are carefully mitigated at each stage of the project life cycle, and a robust operational railway is delivered.
Guide and direct the systems integration activity,
Liaise with the EPM for Systems Integration related works.
In order to identify the interfaces, System Architecture drawings are to be procured and these will form part of final Works Information.
Define how requirements are split and passed on to D&B contractors.
Interfacing with other Neom sectors (particularly Mobility and Freight & Logistics) whose works may impact on the Neom Project works and to support agreement on technical interfaces.
Undertaking reviews of contractor design submittals relating to Systems Integration works.
Undertaking reviews of contractor inspection and test plans relating to Systems Integration works.
Undertaking reviews of contractor handover plans.
Liaising with Rail operators appointed on the handover and acceptance of works.
Initiating and supporting value engineering activities.
3. Main challenges of the job
Supporting the achievement of design and construction Integration and acceptance with agreement from stakeholders in a timely way.
Management of multiple internal external interfaces
Management of systems Integration between multiple contractors.
Supporting the successful delivery of the project with multiple modes of rail operation and infrastructure requiring full systems Integration
Ensuring Systems Integration stageworks considerations are addressed in the contractor’s design.
Resolving technical issues during the construction phase in a timely way to support the construction programme.
4. Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
Key working relationships
Works closely with Engineering Manager, construction management and site management staff, main contractor and framework design contractor.
Works closely with Neom Sectors to understand requirements and interfaces.
Works closely with EPM staff In-Kingdom
10 years’ experience of system integration on major rail projects.
Experience in formulating test, integration, and commissioning strategies to encompass the railway system and main interfaces, such as existing infrastructure, existing systems and operational and maintenance procedures and facilities.
- Degree qualified engineer or equivalent experience
