AECOM Lead - Rolling Stock in NEOM, Saudi Arabia

Job Summary

1. Purpose of the Job

To support the Engineering Manager to provide professional leadership for all technical aspects of the Rolling Stock works for the NEOM Project.

The role is to oversee the discipline execution within NEOM and provide the Client direction and input to the Contractor required for the delivery of the rolling stock works for multiple modes for HSR, Freight and Metro to the project quality requirements and within the discipline budget and schedule.

2. Principal Accountabilities

  • Overseeing all engineering and systems integration aspects of the rolling stock delivery.

  • Rolling Stock and Infrastructure technical compatibility/ integration.

  • Technical Risk analysis.

  • Ensuring compliance of the Rolling Stock works with the Neom Client and Operating Concept requirements.

  • Managing and coordinating the technical interfaces of the Rolling Stock with the Depot and with all other NEOM disciplines and 3rd parties, including Infrastructure Managers

  • Advise on the application of mandatory and best-practice engineering and design standards.

  • Developing testing strategies for the integration of the rolling stock with the rail infrastructure.

  • Ensuring the designs are compliant with technical requirements and relevant standards and legislation by leading reviews, first article inspections, test witnessing and application of a Technical Assurance process.

  • Technical input to the discipline commissioning and maintenance strategies.

  • Ensuring delivery is managed in accordance with NEOM procurement management processes.

  • Undertaking reviews of contractor delivery programmes.

  • Liaising with Rail operators appointed on the handover and acceptance of works.

  • Take necessary care to properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction. Never knowingly put Neom’s information or information systems at risk.

3. Main challenges of the job

  • Ensuring NEOM considerations are addressed in the contractor’s design.

  • Supporting the achievement of rolling stock specification delivery, design assurance and acceptance with agreement from stakeholders in a timely way.

  • Management of multiple internal external interfaces

  • Supporting the successful delivery of the rolling stock with multiple modes of rail operation and infrastructure

  • Resolving technical issues during the delivery phase in a timely way to support the construction programme.

4. Key Working Relationships & Interfaces (both internal and external)

  • Reports to Engineering Manager.

  • Works closely with Engineering Manager Director, construction management and site management staff, main contractor and framework design contractor.

  • Works closely with Neom Sectors to understand requirements and interfaces.

  • Works closely with EPM staff In-Kingdom

  • Works closely with rolling stock suppliers

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 years’ experience of rolling stock projects.

  • Professional qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering or an associated discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Substantial experience in the design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree qualified engineer or equivalent experience
