AECOM Associate - Urban Design in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Job Summary

The Associate Urban Designer, with a minimum of 8 years experience, forms part of the management team of Urban Designers to lead, develop and produce quality product and implement practice plans and project requirements and will develop and implement a business development plan and marketing activities to cultivate a presence and client base in the market and secure future planning and design projects for the practice.

Candidates would ideally have worked on government and private sector projects. Management experience, excellent design and communication skills are required as the successful candidate would lead a multi-disciplinary small team and front client in the delivery of high profile projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Liaising and coordination of projects with the Associate Principal and the project managers

  • Strong conceptual design skills, ability to provide spatial design solutions for a wide range of project types, and project scales from small site plans to large national strategic plans

  • Ensuring timely delivery of quality designs by using creativity & artistic talent, through the application of oral, graphic and written communication skills.

  • Provide specific technical expertise in land use planning and work within a team of planners, urban designers, landscape architects and engineers to complete land development, master planning, and strategic planning projects.

  • Lead and manage complex technical projects and multi-disciplinary teams to successful conclusions/outcomes on a project-by-project basis. Account for the budget, programme and general performance associated with such projects.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and government (approving agencies to advance approvals of development, Master Plans, Development Guidelines and policies.

  • Ensuring that master plans, landscape designs are completed according to time and budget.

  • Liaise with government agencies and other authorities as may be required regarding development objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Assurance policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with AECOM core values

  • Assist the Associate Principal in identification and pursuit of business development opportunities, and growth of the business through new and repeat clients

  • Prepare proposals and qualification documents in the interest of obtaining new assignments.

  • Assist the Associate Principal leader in recruiting appropriately qualified and experienced staff members.

  • Provide such further assistance to senior management as may be required from time to time.

  • Prepare and present submissions/reports for planning scheme amendments.

  • Provide effective representation for the organization, developing and managing relationships with the client and other local authorities. Preparing design briefs, scopes of work, and fee proposals in response to Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for master planning consultants.

  • Promoting AECOM’s initiatives in sustainable development through community planning, green buildings and the public realm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Design, or Town Planning would be preferred.

  • Recognized professional qualification or membership or Master’s Degree in urban design / urban planning / landscape architecture.
