Job Description

AECOM are looking for a Project Management professional to join the team to assist in high end projects. The ideal candidate will join as an Assistant Project Manager to support Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and Associate Directors with a range of Project Management tasks, including assisting in preparing project quality information and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manages one or more moderately complex project, involving a combination of the following:

  • Clients with a regional geographic footprint; OR,

  • Projects involving multiple services provided by regional IE offices; OR,

  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.

  • May manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.

  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

Business Processes:

  • Gain relevant knowledge of policies, including health and safety, environment, company ethics and business best practices.

  • Should have an understanding of all contractual obligations, including AECOM DOA’s and risk committee procedures.

  • Must be ready to work with regulatory authorities for approvals.

  • Perform technical quality reviews, including documentation in project records per policies and procedures.

General Management:

  • Organisational skills to ensure processes are running smoothly and in line with standard design deliverables and client and PM expectations.

  • Able to prioritise tasks and document records for easy access and future reference.

  • Able to create a design project timeline and maintain deadlines throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Responsible for pre-identifying problem areas and implementing mitigation plans—the ability to resolve internal and external conflicts to avoid/ minimise project setbacks.

Client/Stakeholder Management:

  • Begins building relationships with clients and manages the client and key stakeholder expectations.

  • Responsible for conveying and coordinating project information and deliverables with all stakeholders of the design projects.

  • Accountable for assessing situations and can escalate problems as and when required to PM and SPM, providing solutions.

  • Able to independently understand and represent technical issues to clients, communicating outcomes to the technical teams.

Commercial Management:

  • Able to create and control a viable budget throughout the design stages. Able to accurately calculate the earned value, monitor project progress and suggest timely corrective actions.

  • Responsible for monitoring other commercial aspects of the project, such as Variation Orders, invoicing, cash collection, margin, ETCs (Estimate to Complete), and EACs (Estimate at Completion).

  • Responsible for contractual documentation and identifying risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

Interdisciplinary Coordination:

  • Able to identify interdisciplinary design coordination gaps and provide effective solutions.

  • Coordinates effectively with all team members, always ensuring transparent and open communication.

  • Provide regular updates and assignment status to the Project Manager. Participates in internal meetings and is responsible for preparation of minutes etc.

  • Assists in establishing the schedule requirements for all areas of the project.

Technical Excellence:

  • Apply broad knowledge of at least one professional discipline. Capable of managing/coordinating Multi-Disciplinary infrastructure projects.

  • Can demonstrate knowledge of Authorities Standards, Specifications, and requirements.

  • Able to communicate with local authorities representatives and reviewers.

  • Demonstrates experience in design elements, project management tools and techniques and shows a solid understanding of safety in design principles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years post-undergraduate experience

  • Bachelors degree in built environment subject.

  • Local Authority registration preferred.
