AECOM Mechanical Engineer, Facilities Manager, Qatar in Doha, Qatar

Qatar - Al Udeid, Doha

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Facilities Activity Management Processes (AMP) Manager with a mechanical engineering background for an anticipated position supporting efforts in the country of Qatar. The mechanical engineer plan and develop projects in the fields of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, fire suppression, recreational pool systems, water distribution and waste water systems. The work location for this position is on the Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB) in Qatar.

Main responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

  • Must conduct root cause analysis of failing systems, in order to accurately determine the scope of the projects

  • Design products or systems in support of facilities' infrastructure, research, or maintenance requirements.

  • Coordinate, troubleshoot, and approve installation activities as inspection services to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.

  • Establish mechanical engineering design criteria and provide guidance and evaluation for facility projects; determine HVAC loads, complete equipment selection, perform duct sizing and routing, design interior/exterior plumbing and fire protection systems.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Candidate must be US Citizen and must have active secret clearance (or interim).

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidate must have Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and four plus (4) years of design experience and be capable of determination of HVAC loads, equipment selection, duct sizing and routing, interior plumbing plans, exterior plumbing plans, and fire protection systems

  • Must be able to research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

  • Establish mechanical engineering design criteria and provide guidance and evaluation for facility projects; determine HVAC loads, complete equipment selection, perform duct sizing and routing, design interior/exterior plumbing and fire protection systems.

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later, and use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.

  • Must be responsible for reviewing host nation provided design submittals.

  • Must be able to update integrated master schedule (IMS) tasks and report potential or existing problem areas and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce schedule impact.

  • Conduct technical investigation involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Must be able support construction inspections, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction inspectors

  • May require travel to areas in the local area outside of the military installation to verify design requirements and quality of work being performed on jobs/projects.

  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have current passport with more than 12 months validity

  • Must pass medical/dental screening, receive required immunizations, and complete Government deployment preparation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed mechanical engineer is preferred

  • Experience preferred in the following software: AutoCAD 2016, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft (MS) Office 365, Primavera and MS Project

  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and deciphering all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and related documents).

  • Fluent in the Arabic language is preferred
