AECOM Electrical Engineer - Qatar in Doha, Qatar

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Construction Engineer for an anticipated position supporting a construction effort in the country of Qatar. The position will serve as a project engineer with technical responsibility for planning and conducting technical projects or phases or projects. Perform electrical design and investigative services including electric power distribution networks, power load determination, exterior electric, interior electric, fire alarm systems, and site lighting. The work location for this position is on the Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB) in Qatar.

  • Ensure compliance with established standards, guides, precedents, methods, and techniques within discipline. Establish electrical and electronic engineering design criteria and provides guidance and evaluation for facility projects.

  • Conduct work in specialty for high voltage electrical distribution systems; electrical system load and short­circuit studies; instrumentation, and control systems; power and lighting systems, fire detection systems, cathodic protection systems, isolated and emergency power systems, electric power distribution networks, and other unique electrical / electronic systems.

  • Assist in the development and recommend design approaches for new and improved products and or processes.

  • Conduct technical investigation involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Requirements

  • EE must be degreed electrical engineer (licensed electrical engineer is preferred), have a minimum of four (4) years of design experience and be capable of complete design analysis and investigative services including electric power distribution networks, power load determination, exterior electric, interior electric, fire alarm systems, and site lighting.

  • EE must have experience in controls systems designs.

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later, and use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.

  • Must be responsible for reviewing host nation provided design submittals.

  • Must be able to update integrated master schedule (IMS) tasks and report potential or existing problem areas and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce schedule impact.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Must be able support construction inspections, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction inspectors

  • May require travel to areas in the local area outside of the military installation to verify design requirements and quality of work being performed on jobs/projects.

  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have current passport with more than 12 months validity

  • Must pass medical/dental screening, receive required immunizations, and complete Government deployment preparation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preferred in the following software: AutoCAD 2016, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft (MS) Office 365, Primavera and MS Project

  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and deciphering all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and related documents).

  • Fluent in the Arabic language is preferred
