AECOM LEAD MECHANIC in Bagram, Afghanistan

Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the Afghanistan - EAGLE contract for a Lead - Mechanic . Performs troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on various pieces of wheeled vehicles/equipment, both tactical and non-tactical. Oversees tool room operations. Assist the Supervisor with work load schedules, sequence of operations, explains work requirements, procedures and assists with resolving problems. Required to gain access to GCSS-A, IGC, FedMall, LIW and WEBVLIPs for parts and document research. Generates GCSS-A reports as required. Responsible for assigning your personnel into the correct work center in GCSS-A. Responsible for creating and changing your personnel’s work schedules in GCSS-A as required. Responsible for managing your shops GCSS-A Equipment Status Report (ESR) and the ability to brief statuses of equipment on order in GCSS-A. Constantly monitors repair activities to ensure all procedures are performed safely. Plans work schedules, sequence of operations and distribution of work. Designates workers, assigns work, explains work requirements, and assists in resolving problems. Immediately stops all unsafe actions. Reviews accuracy of work and ensures conformance to required standards. Prepares reports and briefings as required. Conducts cross training for other employees. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

  • NACI / Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens

  • Valid Driver’s license or equivalent required.

  • Must be able to obtain USG GCSS-A certification within 90 days.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Full or partial ASE certification, preferred.

  • US Army MOS 91B or equivalent preferred.

  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements maybe substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years ofcollege and vice versa.

  • 4-5 years’ experience as a mechanic is required.

  • DS/GS/FL/SL level preferred.

  • Knowledgeable and highly skilled in the use and operation of Global Combat Support System- Army(GCSS-A).

  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements maybe substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years ofcollege and vice versa.

  • Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Global Combat Support System- Army (GCSS-A).

  • Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW) Capabilities.

  • Logistics Integrated Data Base (LIDB).

  • integrated Logistic Analysis Program (ILAP).

  • Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS)/FEDLOG.

  • Must be able to pass Supervisor and GCSS-A specific Skill PQS within 30 days of hire and as requiredthroughout period of employment.

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project, SharePoint, and other softwareprograms.

  • Must have knowledge of diesel engines.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret US Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehiclemaintenance and repair.

  • May be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

  • Must be able to function with a basic level of the English language, both oral and written.

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 77 hour work week.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. continuously, 50 intermittently.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military preferred.
