Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity as a Mechanic - Generator in Afghanistan on the Eagle Contract. Performs troubleshooting, maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of diesel and gas generators below 750KVA-Kilo Volt Amperes.

Maintains record of repairs required, parts used and labor time. Measures velocity, horsepower, revolutions per minute (rpm), amperage, circuitry, and voltage of units or parts to diagnose problems, using ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters, and other testing devices.

Welds, brazes, or solders electrical connections. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Duties may vary dependent on area of assignment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

NACI / Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens

Must complete General Trade Skills PQS within 30 days of hire.

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Military Training or similar vocational education trade training preferred.

Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

1-3 years’ experience in power generation equipment repairs required.

1-3 years’ experience in Electrical background preferred

Experience in the Army 52 D or 91 D MOS or equivalent preferred.

Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

Must be able to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.

Determines causes of operating errors and provides corrective actions.

Must be able to understand and interpret wiring diagrams.

Must have the English language speaking ability to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical, social, and professional topics. Must be able to read standard newspaper items addressed to the general reader, routine correspondence, reports, and technical materials in the individual's special field.
