AECOM is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer for an anticipated position supporting a construction effort in the country of Qatar (contingent position). The civil engineer will perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments. Provide civil design services including preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural designs, and water/sewer designs based on existing local utilities and facility load and use. The work location for this position is on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
Act as the Site Manager providing the on-site oversight of the task order personnel and the direct report to the onsite client.
Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.
Prepare civil/site work drawings, structural designs, and water/sewer designs based on existing local utilities and facility load and use.
Create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans, using AutoCAD, for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, and four (4) plus years of design experience and be capable of preparation of civil design services including preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural evaluations and designs, and water/sewer designs based on existing local utilities and facility load and use (licensed engineer is preferred).
Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later, and use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.
Must have experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D GIS systems.
Must be responsible for reviewing host nation provided design submittals.
Must be able to update integrated master schedule (IMS) tasks and report potential or existing problem areas and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce schedule impact.
Must be able to provide wide variety of engineering designs for facilities and infrastructure systems, including: earthwork; airfield and roadway pavement systems;
Must be able support construction inspections, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction inspectors
May require travel to areas in the local area outside of the military installation to verify design requirements and quality of work being performed on jobs/projects.
Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have current passport with more than 12 months validity
Must pass medical/dental screening, receive required immunizations, and complete Government deployment preparation
Experience preferred in the following software: AutoCAD 2016, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft (MS) Office 365, Structural Analysis and Design (STAAD), Primavera and MS Project
Experience in reading, interpreting, and deciphering all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and related documents).
Fluent in the Arabic language is preferred
