Job Summary

Serves as a fully capable professional under the direct supervision of the Technical Director. The Associate builds the digital capabilities and maturity across the Architecture Design Practice and is responsible for developing standards, systems, procedures, capacity and skills in digital Architecture design and providing management of the Architectural Practice’s digital output on large scale projects.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Lead AECOM’s Architectural Practice’s digital initiatives

  • Responsible for increased digital design performance throughout the Architectural Practice in terms of best practice: technology, process, methods and skills.

  • Defining and updating the BIM / Digital Architecture baseline

  • Reviewing and approving information produced on projects against the Architectural Practice’s digital delivery baseline

  • Client engagement

  • Team Leadership

  • Mentoring

Job Duties:

Project/Design Responsibilities:

  • Organises own and others work to achieve set deadlines

  • Responsible for the completeness & accuracy of own work.

  • Responsible for setting and driving the digital Architecture Design agenda across AECOM ME Architecture Teams.

  • Responsible for building and maintaining digital Architectural practice skills within the team to ensure a robust and sustainable skills base.

  • Develops specific, standardized procedures to achieve digital delivery requirements and deadlines

  • Review and approve the information produced on projects against the Architectural Practice’s digital delivery baseline

  • Manages accuracy and quality of discipline BIM model information, presentation, and coordination

  • Takes accountability for own and subordinates work

  • Where required, ensure that AECOM’s specialist consultants internal / external are aligned with the requirements of the agreed Digital Architecture baseline

  • Collaborates/ communicates with other disciplines regarding digital delivery issues

  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation across the Architectural Practice’s team to ensure that work is conducted in a manner that takes into consideration wider stakeholders and long-term strategic business goals.

  • Communicates with clarity, purpose and accuracy

  • Determines solutions, methods and procedures on assignments to deliver digital products & services

  • Lead motivate and mentor the Architectural Practice’s team, to ensure good digital Architecture performance is delivered and to support team members in their personal development.

  • Participates in pro-active coordination with internal and external design disciplines to achieve a high- quality consistent set of presentation or design documents as per Client requirements and Industry standards

  • Developed knowledge of AECOM’s QMS procedures

  • Attends / Leads client meetings

  • Confidently present work to colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

  • Provide digital design support to site supervision teams and resolve digital design related issues on site

Efficiency in Design:

  • Apply and reinforce digital design standards and products across work programmes

  • Coordinate efficient outsourcing / offshoring ( GDC etc. ) of workload

  • Develop digital design manuals, etc. to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across the architectural practice

Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that digital efficiencies are recorded and monitored continuously and effectively to provide benchmark data for ongoing and future bids and projects.

  • Assist Architectural Bid Leads in the development of Technical Proposals and fees for in response to incoming RFP’s


  • Delegates effectively and efficiently where appropriate and follows up on delegated tasks up to completion of the task(s)

  • Actively engage with the wider industry and scan for best practice, software and innovation that can be used to update the Architectural Practice’s digital delivery baseline

Specific Skills Required:

Project/Design Responsibilities:

  • Ability to fulfil all the above duties and responsibilities

  • Ability to shape and steer digital Architectural practice delivery

  • Be recognised as an expert in Architectural digital delivery

  • Revit Certified Professional certification required within 2 years of current version

  • Must be proficient in Navisworks Manage

  • Must be proficient in BIM360

  • Ability to write/review scripts and recognise opportunities to develop them in order to improve efficiencies

  • Understanding of predictive analytics and how it can be applied in architectural design

  • Must be versed in local industry BIM Initiatives and internationally recognised BIM initiatives, standards, protocols and mandates like BS1192 and ISO19650

  • Manages BIM model QA/QC checks on projects according to established and company standards to ensure accuracy and quality of discipline models

  • Ability to extract, manipulate, validate and present BIM model information as required e.g. at client meetings / presentations

  • Must be detail-oriented, consistent and highly accurate in the work

  • Detailed knowledge of AECOM’s standards, policies, codes and procedures and ability to transmit the same to others

  • Excellent command of English ( written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years post undergraduate experience

  • Proven related professional experience in an Architectural Practice

  • Previous Project BIM Coordination / Project Information Management experience

  • Experience of working on large scale projects including site experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • B . Arch. or B.Sc. in Architecture
